For most of us, negative thinking may already be part of our life. When we get unexpected things, we easily feel depressed and can not see the good side of the incident.
Negative thinking does not carry anywhere, it’s only make the bad feeling worse, which then will result in our disappointing performance. This could be an endless circle.
Jessica Padykula suggest nine techniques to prevent and overcome negative thoughts which are as follows:
- Living in the Present
- Say It Positive On Yourself
- Believe In the Power of Positive Thinking
- Do not be silent
- Focus on Positive Things
- Move
- Face your fear
- Try New Things
- Change your perspective
Thinking about the past or the future is the thing that often makes us anxious. Rarely do we panic because of present life. If you find your mind tied up in what has been happening or what has not happened, remember that only the present that we can control.
Tell yourself that you’re strong, you can do it. Say it over and over, anytime. Especially, start the day by saying positive things about myself and that day, no matter if the day you have to take difficult decisions or you will not believe what you said to yourself.
If you think positively, positive things will come and the difficulties will feel lighter. Conversely, if you think negatively, negative things will happen to you. This is a universal law, like laws of gravity or the exchange of energy. It will not be easy to change your mindset, but the effort is comparable with the results that you can get.
Explore what makes you think negatively, repair, and re-advanced. If it can not be repaired anymore, stop complaining and regret because it’s only going to spend your time and energy, also makes you feel worse. Accept what has happened, learned lessons / lesson of the situation, and readvanced.
When we’re being so negative, we often forget what we have and focus more on what we do not have. Make a gratitude journal. No matter the time, each day write down five of six positive things that happened that day. Positive things that could be big things or just little things like ‘sunny day’ or ‘the dinner was wonderfull’. As long as you stay consistent doing this activity, it is able to change your negative thoughts into a positive thought. And when you start feeling negative, read back the journal.
Exercising releases endorphins that can make your feelings better. Is it just a walk around the block or running ten miles, physical activity will make ourselves feel better. When you feel down, fifteen minutes of sports activity can make you feel better.
Negative feelings come from fear, the more afraid you are going to live, the more negative thoughts within you. If you’re afraid of something, do something about it. Fear is part of life but we have the choice to not let fear stop us.
Trying new things can also increase self-confidence. By saying yes to your life you open up more opportunities for growth. Stop thinking of ‘yes, but …’. New experiences, small or large, make life seem more fun and useful.
When something does not go well, find a way to see things from a more positive perspective. In every challenge there are advantages, there are challenges in any profits.
